God is so good! We've started construction on phase 1 of Joy Chrisitian Secondary School. In just a few weeks we'll have four new classrooms and bathrooms on the new campus. For the next year these classrooms with house Senior 1, 2, 3. That's equivalent to grades 7, 8, 9 in America. As we continue to grow, these classrooms will become our physics, chemistry, and biology labs. God is at work transforming this community. Thank you for being a part of this journey so far. There is still more to do. Give now to help our new class of students get uniforms, books, supplies, desks, shelves, and curriculum for the new term. We did adjust our goal for phase 1 up by $500 to account for this supplies. As of 8/14/2022 we are only $2,938.50 short of our total phase 1 goal. That's less than .5% of the way there! Give now to push us across the finish line.

Our mission is to elevate the community of Gatagara out of poverty through Christian education and development. Of course, we do meet the immediate needs of our kids, helping to make sure they are safe, healthy, nourished, and have clean water. Our focus, however, is making a long-term impact through Christ-centered education.
We were all overjoyed when we saw how our first sixth grade graduating class did on their national exams. They all passed with high marks opening the doors for them to each attend good secondary schools (7th - 12th grades). Over the last year, we have discovered that these schools are not giving our kids the quality of education that we want for them.
God has given our teachers, principal, support staff, and board members . . . the whole team . . . a burden to expand Joy Christian School from an excellent primary school to include an excellent secondary school. This is a dream that is beyond our current capacity. It is a God-sized dream.
Up through grade six, by God’s great grace and mercy, through your prayers and generosity, we have succeeded in providing one of the best primary school educations in the country. But, we believe that God wants to provide more for our kids all the way through 12th grade. This is the path that will lead them and the community out of poverty. They will then be equipped to find their own solutions to the problems in their communities.
In five years City of Joy will be graduating its first class of high school students. Some will go to the university. Some will enter the workforce. Some will start businesses. All will be a testament to other children living in one of the poorest communities in the world that God is good and he will redeem and restore every broken place.
