Hannah West
God has given Hannah a strong desire to love people, she has seen and experienced the Lord’s love and goodness deeply. Being at City of Joy in both 2023 and 2024 she created long meaningful relationships that she is excited to come back to.
In this Hannah brings laughter, fun, joy, and encouragement to those around her always pointing them to the ultimate one, our God who deserves all the Glory. Hannah tells us the heart of her relationship with Jesus, she relates to David in Psalm 63 when he cries out to the Lord, “You, God, are my God; earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” Her yearning for Him has grown stronger, along with the fire in her heart to serve Him.
In Hannah’s words “I have been so blessed by City of Joy; therefore, I would love to serve in any way needed. God has given me a heart for kids, so working with the students at City of Joy or having the opportunity to pour into the community would be something I would truly love. I’m so excited to help in any way I can!” Thank you for supporting Hannah in this path the Lord is leading her on.
Sophia West
Sophia is seeking support for a mission trip to Rwanda, where she hopes to serve children and share God’s love. The Lord has given her a deep love for kids, along with energy, athleticism, and a strong work ethic in school that that can and will be used to serve others.
Sophia became a Christian at a young age, and over the years she has grown in trusting Jesus as her Savior and relying on Him daily for strength, guidance, and in all her relationships. God has shown Sophia that He is not only Lord, but a caring Father who hears every prayer. Through her experiences, teaching Bible lessons at City of Joy last summer and serving four years in Awana with 3–5-year-olds, she developed a passion for teaching and encouraging young hearts. We are excited for the opportunity to have Sophia pour out to our community in Rwanda and are grateful for your prayers and support as she follows where God is leads her.
Emily West
Emily first felt God’s calling in her sophomore year to go to Africa and serve children, especially deaf children. She has spent her last 2 summers in Rwanda. City of Joy has played a large role in changing her heart forever. Emily has shared that the children and teachers at City of Joy have become family, and they have a big part of her heart. She is extremely excited to return to this Rwandan family.
Over her month long internship this summer Emily will be on our leadership team for all the interns. She is gifted and passionate about discipling and encouraging others. And is great at one on one time with students. This summer will be using all those gifts to discipleship, teach, and encourage those around her. She loves God’s word and is so passionate about biblical counseling and pointing everything to the truth in scripture.
