These baskets are created using a traditional East African method of weaving long grass and dyed sisal fibers from agave plants. While there are practical applications for these baskets each one is meant to be a piece of art. Traditionally, they were handcrafted and given on special occasions as symbols of family and friendship. When you purchase one of these beautiful creations you support a local Rwandan artisan and help to launch new vocational programs at City of Joy Rwanda.
Made by a City of Joy basket weaving student.
Large Baskets are 12 inches in diameter.
