The gospel is at the heart of everything we do at City of Joy. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Our world is incredibly broken but God is actively at work setting things back in order. Colossians 1:19-20 says, “For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him (Jesus), and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.” Every broken thing is being made whole through Jesus.

At City of Joy the primary laborers in this effort are our teachers. They pour into the lives of their students from their first day as a 3 or 4 year old until they graduate. They work diligently to help students grow in physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual maturity. Not only are they educators but they're missionaries, pastors, social workers, and evangelists as well. Children come to know the depth of God’s love for them through these teachers.

We want to help equip our team with all the skills they need to be great teachers. Our teacher scholarship fund provides assistance to teachers who want to further their education. Our goal each year is to send two teachers back to college to study education. For just $1000 per year a teacher can enroll in a program allowing them to study on nights and weekends and remain in the classroom during the week.
